TETRIS

We got more than a little misty-eyed and excited when MARV asked us to re-create 8-bit inspired graphics for their feature film ‘Tetris’.

Complementing the 1980’s aesthetic, helping to establish locations and characters, and injecting even more nostalgic fun to proceedings, this most pixelated of projects involved us working at 1/10 the scale that we normally would, before upscaling the results for film audiences. We looked at 40 years of Tetris evolution in designing a look and feel across the work, blending After Effects and dedicated pixel art software to achieve retro yet crisp perfection.

Encapsulating the continuing allure of pixel art, Senior Motion Designer Danny Boyle who led the project at Coffee & TV said:
